Meat Puppets - Too High To Die plus Raw Meat bonus EP
Vinyl rip in 24-bit / 96kHZ [and redbook] FLAC + artwork
1.3 GB / 420 MB | magnet + mega | Rock
Rare vinyl pressing with 10" 45 RPM Raw Meat EP

Too High to Die is the eighth album by the Meat Puppets, released on January 25, 1994. It sold very well due to the success of its single "Backwater", which reached #2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album itself also reached #1 on the Heatseekers chart, making it one of the Meat Puppets' most successful and highest ranking albums to date. The album's title is a parody of The Ramones' 1984 album Too Tough to Die.

A limited edition of Too High To Die included the 10" vinyl promo EP Raw Meat. The cover art on this limited edition features more color than the simply pink-toned normal cover.
The album was certified gold by the RIAA on October 6, 1994.
Honestly, I never understood how Curt never got his due as a guitar god! If you really, I mean really listen, and get past a few drug-addled lyrics, you'll hear some incredibly guitar playing on this and most of the Pups  LPs. Probably straddling the DIY/Punk/Country/Rock/Drug genres did not help, but do yourself a favor, this album has a very broad number of styles on it.

thanks for the rip 86

but I believe you've got your magnets reversed
theZguy said…
just wondering - do you know what year it is?

quite a few of your recent rips have stated a transfer date of April 2012

just trying to clarify the use of "Promo" here

based on the artwork included it looks like the entire package is a Promotional Copy which also includes a Promo EP

we actually have a "Promo" inside a "Promo" here

Okay, I removed all "promo-only" mentions.

It has a barcode so that infers it was available at one point at retail, and the sticker on my copy suggest it was available with and without the EP.

So to be correct, this is indeed a promo copy of the LP based on the stamp on the back, and in limited edition which further includes the promo 10" EP based on the sticker on the front cover as well as the multi-color front cover (the normal pressing was just white and pink like the CD).

Only saw them once, on the "Huevos" tour, at the legendary Palomino in L.A. He was certainly a guitar god to me after that. Thanks for this...was totally unaware of the 10" due to living in CD-land.

Love it when you do SST, 86ed (I know this is not, but, you know)! Your Metal Circus transfer is fantastic, and this, this is just beautiful. 'Violet Eyes' will never win any prizes for best album opener, but from then on things get better and better. I played this album a lot back in the day. There was a video for 'We Don't Exist' on MTV back then, wasn't there? Anyway, this transfer sounds fantastic, and I can't thank you enough for sharing it! MEGA-special thanks for the file locker links, too, without which . . .
