I remember in around September '88 Billboard began publishing a "Modern Rock Tracks" chart and "Jesus Christ" was listed at, I believe, #1 for at least a week - yet it was *years* before I ever met anyone who'd heard it and knew where it could be found. It was one of the biggest U2 mysteries to me for the longest time.

It's kinda like trying to land a copy of R.E.M.'s cover of Roky Erickson's, "I Walked With A Zombie". I *still* haven't found a copy of that song anywhere in any format. I taped it off the radio in September 1991 when I was on vacation in a small town that just *happened* to be in reasonably close proximity to another town with a small time Modern Rock radio station that I could only hear in FM-Mono mode from where I was staying. :)

I was only joking, my friend... to borrow a lyric. :)

Had to work the song title into my comment *somehow*, y'know. hehe...

I have the Roky tribute CD with that track. I can rip it for you if you want.

You can get in on ebay or discogs pretty cheap though, worth having for a few tracks.
I bought it for the T-Bone Burnett track myself.

Yes, it wasn't until very recently that I finally found a reference to that song even having been recorded by R.E.M. on the internet. It's been extremely elusive to me for the past 21+ years! :) I recorded 10 tapes of that radio station over a period of 4 days and have been trying ever since to acquire a copy of every song they played which I recorded. It was and still is *that* good, IMO. :) Just to have a rip of that one song would be awesome! I'm between jobs right now so I have not been buying *any* music online for a few months. I hope to return to normalcy soon but I'm not quite there yet. Got magnet?
